About this place

Like most municipalities in the Canary Islands, the historic center of Guía de Isora emerged from the construction of the first religious enclosure. Its origins date back at least to the first half of the 16th century, as there is documented evidence of the construction of a building for religious purposes. It was expanded throughout the 18th century and underwent profound transformations in the 19th and 20th centuries, giving it the appearance we know today. Regarding its civil architecture, while there are some examples from the 18th century, most of the houses that make up this architectural ensemble date from the 19th century, where eclecticism and neoclassicism are the dominant styles.
