Conjunto Histórico de Tegueste

With its special geographical layout since it borders La Laguna along its entire perimeter, a unique fact among the municipalities of Tenerife, Tegueste takes its name from the ancient menceyato, dependent after the conquest on the La Laguna town council (until its designation as an independent municipality with the Cádiz Cortes). The distribution of lands by the Adelantado transforms a natural environment that was practically untouched. In the land grants, the use of lands, waters, and pastures was granted to Fernando de Llerena, Guillén Castellano, Juan de Almansa, Francisco Melián, Gonzalo del Castillo, and Juan Zapata, among others. The urban center develops in a sub-quadrangular layout around the parish of San Marcos and is delimited between the Aguas de Dios ravine, the Camino del Caidero bridge, and the Palmera house.
